Blizzard of 2015, I'm ready!

It's that time of year....Blizzard time! It really couldn't come at a worse time. But I have no control over it so I will do my best to be prepared. I've started filling water jugs and making sure that the flashlights work and I have extra batteries.
I actually got a call this morning from my electrician friend saying that he will be over this morning to hook up the generator and show me how to use it! So that will be a huge help because there is no doubt in my mind that we will lose power it's just when will we. (We lose power if the wind blows too hard).
So now to get my girl ready and off to the grocery store to see what is left in the way of food. I really just need a handful of things but people really start to panic when they hear snow is coming. I also need to grab a can or two of gas.
It's going to be an interesting couple of days. But I know I can do this.

Here's a before picture. Will post more as the storm goes on.

Manly Coasters

I wanted to make everyone in my family something for Christmas even the men. My husband is hard to shop for because he wants nothing, has everything and if he doesn't have it it's a million dollars. So needless to say finding something to make for him that he would like was tough.
I searched Pinterest for what felt like years and finally found something...coasters made from Hex-Nuts. 488 hex nuts and 3 tubes of super glue later, I had 8 coasters. A gift for my husband and my father in law.
I just picked the design that I wanted and started glueing the nuts to a thin piece of cork board. After I had them all glued on I let them sit overnight before I cut them out. I slapped a coat of Mod Podge on them and they were good to go!
They both really loved them!

Completed Pinterest DIYs

A while back I posted some pictures of some Diys that I wanted to attempt. Well I finished them and they actually look pretty good. I made 3 towel hooks for 2 of our bathrooms and I sewed 4 iPad cases for my Aunts and my parents.
Now to track down the pictures that I took of the iPad cases :)

Koala Mittens

I read an article today about the wildfires in Australia and how lots of koalas have been badly burned. So the International Fund for Animal Welfare is asking people to sew mittens for the koalas burned paws. So of course I'm on board and ready to start sewing! I've got the pattern printed out and the address written down. Now to buy a sheet made of 100% cotton and off I'll go making as many as I can get out of that sheet. I've even recruited my Mom to make some too.
I feel so bad when animals are hurt, so I'm glad that I can do something for them.
Check out the link with the full story. It's heartbreaking but it's awesome to see so many people donating hand made koala mittens. I'll share our finished products when we they are complete!

Paw Print Shower Adhesives

I was watching the Big Bang Theory a few weeks ago, the episode where Penny falls and dislocates her shoulder because of "lack of adhesive ducks" in the shower. And it got me thinking that I should put something in our tub. It has a textured bottom, but we might as well put something else on there for added safety. No one has ever fallen, but I'm over cautious.
So I checked Amazon and there were lots of different shapes and sizes. I finally decided on paw prints (shocking I know). I put them on about a week ago and I must say they look really good. It was quite the process putting them on. There were only five paws in a set so I bought two sets. I am very happy with how they came out!

Happy New Year!!!

Great first day of the New Year!
Had lunch at Olive Garden with Josh, Ruby and my parents, and then went and did some car browsing. We plan on expanding our family so I am going to need something bigger than my car. I love my car but when myself, Josh, Ruby, Ryan and the stroller go somewhere we have to drive the truck or my mothers SUV. So we are going to start the looking process to see what's out there. It's always fun to look and test drive.
Now I'm off to de-Christmas the house. So sad :( But it will be nice not having to vacuum up the pine needles every day!
Happy New Year!
